1. Exercise
Figure 1.1
In the tutorial section, we've learned to put various pictures and blend them together to create one picture.
2. Self portrait double exposure
Figure 1.2: Self Portrait
1. First I use the Quick Selection Tool to select subject and remove the background of my portrait.
2. Then, I apply a layer mask on the selection which is the portrait without the background and turn the image into black and white.
3. I created a solid background color by selecting a random color first.
4. Then, I apply a layer mask of the subject on the image from figure 1.3 and unlinked it so I can aligned the images carefully to show the desire image.
Figure 1.3: Log cabin in snow
5. I created another copy of the background of the subject and change the Blending Mode to Soft Light so it can easily see my face.
6. I also use the Brush Tool to brush my face and the cabin to soften the edges so it can blend to the surrounding.
7. For the background, I decided to use the same image from Figure 1.3 and turned it into a smart object.
8. I decrease the opacity to 47% and used Gausian Blur about 9.0% and adjust the image.
9. Lastly, I added snow to my body and decrease the opacity to 55% so that it can blend well to the cabin.
10. I also added clouds, moon and birds to beautify the image.

PARAGRAPH 1 (Keywords related to your idea) | Food, Kids, Body, Poverty, Spoon and Fork, Food waste, |
PARAGRAPH 2 (How to present the keywords in visual?) | By using bold and contrasting colours like green or orange for the poster to stand out. Include pictures of kids or people suffering from hunger to make the message and the viewers more aware of the scope of the problem. Use direct language like slogans to inform the viewers of the urgency of this problem. Include symbols and icons that represent the fight against hunger.

PART 2: WEEK 5 (5 marks)
Design Direction
- Create a sketch for my work.
SKETCH #1 SKETCH #2
- Create a digital poster based on my sketch.
DIGITAL POSTER #1
1. First I created a new layer and choose a solid colour for the background.
2. I then duplicate and masked out the hand, fork and food waste and paste it on top of the poster.
3. Then for the bottom part, I put a layer mask which is food waste on the mountain of food waste. I then added the boy sitting on top of the mountain. I adjusted both the mountain and the boy to be in the middle.
4. Then I masked various types of food waste and placed it like its falling down on the boy.
5. I then added some hands reaching out behind the mountain of food.
6. Lastly, text and symbol was also added. For the text, I chose green colour to suit the theme and the font to be bold and italic to make it clearer for view.
DIGITAL POSTER #2
1. First I chose a starving man for the background.
2. Then I wanted to represent the bones as fork and spoon. Hence, I mask the fork and duplicate it 4 times to make the ribs and mask out the spoon to make the stomach.
3. For the spoon, I created a layer mask to place food waste inside it.
4. Then, I added a boy and duplicate it to look like its reaching out for the food on the stomach. I also make it look like black and white.
5. Lastly, I added some text and make the colour green to suit the theme and background.
6. However, Mr Martin said that we have to use real life images and not illustration images. so I change the boy reaching out for the food to a real boy and make it black and white.
DIGITAL POSTER #1 DIGITAL POSTER #2
From this two posters, I like the first poster more. After some feedbacks from Mr Martin, he also said the first poster is better than the second one.
PART 3: WEEK 6 (10 Marks)
Execution and Post Production
- Develop the composition techniques using Digital Photography & Graphic Design.
After I gotten some feedbacks from Mr Martin, I decided to change some parts of the poster.
FEEDBACK CHANGE:
1. First I deleted one of the hand throwing food and only left one and placed it on the right hand side as Mr Martin suggest to only put one.
2. He also said that all the hands behind the mountain of food trash was too bothering the view so I deleted it. I then moved the mountain and the boy to the left side so that the composition is much better. I also brush off the edges of the boy sitting and the mountain food trash to be more smoother.
3. Next, I rearrange the words and put text shadow behind the words 'Don't Waste Save Food" so that it is more clearer to view.
4. Lastly, I added few food waste falling down.
Hence, the finalize version of my poster are as below.
FINAL POSTER

Figure 1.5
TITLE: “Hunger Ends Here: Feed A Better Future”
ARTIST STATEMENT:
Through my poster on Zero Hunger, I aim to raise awareness and inspire action towards a world free from food insecurity. My inspiration behind my poster are when I research it on Pinterest, I found myself seeing a lot of food waste, people throwing food and kids/poor people having to beg for food kind of poster. So the concept that I wanted to convey is be aware of throwing your food if you cannot finish. Be consider of others and only take as much as you can eat. In terms of visual representation, I wanted to show the dangers of food waste that can impact on hunger to other people. So I put an image of people throwing food from above until the food forms a mountain of food waste and a boy suffering from Kwashiorkor, sitting on top of that mountain. This is to make the message and the viewers more aware of the scope of the problem. I also used bold and contrasting colours like green for the text so that the poster can stand out and included a zero hunger symbol.
